Le domaine Deprade Jorda

A unique terroir at the foot of the Albères mountains

The Deprade Jorda winery covers 80 hectares of vineyards in the foothills of the Albères, a region renowned for its breathtaking scenery and exceptional climate.

Our vineyards cover the communes of Argelès-sur-Mer, Laroque-des-Albères, Sorède and Saint-André, offering a variety of soils that give our wines their distinctive character and aromatic richness.

The richness of our terroirs

Our varied soils – schist, gneiss, clay, limestone, sand and silt – bring a unique complexity to our wines. Each type of soil contributes to the variety of our production, enabling us to cultivate some fifteen different grape varieties. This geological diversity, combined with the Mediterranean climate, favors the creation of wines with varied and harmonious aromatic profiles. A region with a specific and unique climate, requiring a thorough understanding of how to adapt to it.

Wines between land and sea

At the foot of the majestic Albères mountains, between land and sea, the Deprade Jorda winery represents the quintessence of our terroir. We produce a wide range of wines, from Côtes Catalanes to Côtes du Roussillon, not forgetting our famous Natural sweet wines. Our cuvées, such as Quintessence Red and Quintessence White, are renowned for their finesse, elegance and authentic expression of the Albères terroir.

Harvesting : tradition and innovation

Grape harvesting at the Deprade Jorda winery combines tradition and innovation to guarantee the optimum quality of each vintage. Some vines on the Sorède and Laroque-des-Albères hillsides are harvested by hand, enabling a precise selection of grapes to produce top-of-the-range cuvées. In the Argelès-sur-Mer area, harvesting is carried out mechanically, thanks to the flatter, more extensive areas, which make it easier for the harvesting machine to pass through.

Precise harvesting

The harvest date is precisely determined by regular checks in our vineyards. Our experts analyze the sugar content and acidity of the berries through frequent ripeness checks. In addition, weekly visits enable us to assess the fineness of the skins and the ripeness of the pips to choose the ideal moment for harvesting. This attention to detail ensures that each grape is picked at its optimum ripeness, guaranteeing the outstanding quality of our wines.

Our vineyards benefit from an incredible diversity of soils, making our wines unique and authentic to the Roussillon region. From calcareous schist to clayey sedimentary rock, and from clayey-limestone to sandy-loam soils, each parcel brings its own specific characteristics to our grape varieties. We are now investing in new plantations to facilitate the mechanization of our vines, optimizing lifting, pre-pruning and harvesting. These developments modernize our practices while respecting the quality and authenticity of our wines.

Thanks to a Mediterranean climate, marked by the regular presence of the tramontana and the marin, our vines benefit from optimal sunshine and natural ventilation, which favors healthy ripening of the grapes. This climatic harmony enables early grape varieties to reach maturity quickly, while later varieties benefit from gradual ripening to produce balanced, complex wines.

In our original winery, we combine tradition and modernity to produce our wines. Vinification takes place in a concrete vat room, ideal for controlled micro-oxygenation, complemented by stainless steel tanks for optimal precision of fermentation. Our white and red wines also benefit from a barrel cellar, where they mature and develop complex aromas before being bottled. Tradition, Passion and Authenticity are the hallmarks of Deprade Jorda wines.
